Rune Haven

Rune Haven is a free, fan-made Ragnarok Online server built on the classic pre-renewal ruleset. As of October 2026 it is in an invite-only closed beta with public pre-registration open. No launch date has been announced; the team says it will email every pre-registered player when the gates open.

The server opens in Phase 1 with first jobs only and a level cap of 50. At launch you can play it in a browser on PC or a phone held sideways, or through a Windows client of about 5 GB. Rune Haven states that it is not affiliated with Gravity, the company behind Ragnarok Online.

Pre-renewal rules at low rates

No third jobs and no renewal formulas. Rates sit at 5x base EXP, 5x job EXP, and 3x drops, while cards and MVP drops stay at 1x, so card hunting is as rare as it was on the original servers.

One world in the browser and on desktop

The browser version runs in Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari, with on-screen touch controls on phones. The desktop client connects to the same world and the same characters.

A built-in Auto Attack switch with limits

Every character can toggle Auto Attack for up to 3 hours a day per account. It never targets bosses or MVPs, does not work in towns, and earns no Cash Points or Costume Tokens.

Costumes you earn by hunting

Monsters drop tradeable Costume Tokens that buy 47 cosmetic looks at the Costume Collector in Prontera, from a 15-token Sprout Hat up to 150-token Valkyrie Helms. Costumes give no stats.

How pre-registration works

Sign up with your email on the official pre-registration page and click the confirmation link the team sends you. Only confirmed emails count toward the community milestones.

Every pre-registered player gets 100 Cash Points, plus every milestone reward that unlocks as sign-ups grow. The first published milestone is Costume Valkyrie Wings at 1,000 sign-ups.

On launch day, create your game account with the same email. Then talk to the Pre-Registration Rewards NPC in Prontera at 147, 185, next to the Welcome Guide. Rewards are bound to your account, and each email can claim once.

Until launch, getting into the closed beta needs an invite code from a GM or from a friend who is already testing.

Your first login and free starter gear

After logging in you set a 4-digit security PIN, which you enter every time you sign in, so write it down. Each new character can collect a free supply pack of potions, wings, and magnifiers from the Starter Quartermaster in the Training Grounds.

Once per account, the Welcome Guide in Prontera at 150, 185 hands out a starter package. When a Novice changes to a first job, they also receive a Trainee Weapon for their class, a 7-day rental that starts counting when first equipped.

A few Prontera NPCs make the early levels easier:

Dungeon Raids for parties of 3 to 11

Raids are private boss instances for your party. The leader creates one through the Raid Master in Prontera, the RAID button, or the @raid command, and members in the level range join with Enter Raid. Four raids are available in Phase 1:

The boss grows stronger with every player inside and calls for help at 75%, 50%, and 25% HP. You have 30 minutes. Each member receives 2 rewards from the raid list, and each rare drop goes to one member, chosen at random.

Each character can claim one reward per raid per day, but you can keep helping your party afterwards. Two higher raids, Shadow of Nidhoggur and Summit of the Endless Tower, open with the second job patch.

MVPs, field bosses, and the 3% damage rule

MVPs have 4x their normal HP and field bosses such as Angeling, Ghostring, and Vagabond Wolf have 2x, so they are tuned for groups. Anyone who deals at least 3% of the damage earns a shared reward on top of the normal drops.

For an MVP that means 5 Costume Tokens, two bonus rolls on its drop list at 3x the normal chance (cards excluded), and one bonus pick such as Oridecon, Elunium, or an Old Blue Box. A field boss gives 1 token and one bonus roll at 2x.

Cash Points, the Cash Shop, and Premium

Cash Points are earned by playing rather than bought. You get 100 on your first login, then 10 per hour of active play, up to 40 a day. Time spent idle for 5 minutes, using Auto Attack, or vending does not count.

The Cash Shop sells costumes, Bubble Gum and Battle Manual scrolls, potions, wings, a Kafra Card, and Megaphones. The Rental Valkyrie NPC offers 7-day leveling weapons. The Monthly Scrolls NPC sells gacha scrolls whose prize pools include costumes and cards, while MVP gear and cards are not sold directly.

Premium is a separate, time-limited upgrade for the whole account:

Premium adds no drop bonus. The guide tells players to ask a GM about it and does not list a price.

Refining without losing your gear

Refining follows classic rules. Armor uses Elunium, while weapons use Phracon at weapon level 1, Emveretarcon at level 2, and Oridecon at levels 3 and 4. Ore merchants beside the refiners turn 5 rough ores into 1 pure ore.

Up to an item’s safe limit every attempt succeeds. Above it, a failure destroys the item along with any cards slotted in it. Enriched Elunium and Oridecon improve the odds, and weapons refined past the safe limit gain a random bonus ATK on every hit.

Refiners are located in Prontera, Morroc, Payon, Alberta, Juno, Einbroch, and Lighthalzen, and the official refining page lists each success rate.

Roadmap: second jobs, then War of Emperium

Phase 1 keeps everyone on first jobs so the server levels together. The second job patch will raise the level cap above 50, open the second job quests, and add the two higher raids.

War of Emperium comes after that patch, with guilds fighting over the castles of Rune-Midgard. The WoE page says times will be listed in Philippine time (UTC+8), but no dates have been announced.

If you would rather play on an official, publisher-run classic server, compare it with Ragnarok Zero: Global. The Ragnarok Online page covers the original game that Rune Haven recreates.

Server rules to know before you log in

The team notes that rules may change during the beta, with major changes posted in the news.
