Throne and Liberty is a free-to-play fantasy MMORPG developed by FirstSpark Games, an NC company, and operated in the West by Amazon Games. Its global service launched on October 1, 2024 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
The game combines a classless two-weapon combat system with open-world events, co-op dungeons, guild bosses, housing, arena and Battleground modes, Archboss encounters, territory conflict, and Castle Siege. Cross-play connects most PC and console servers, but character progression does not transfer between platforms.
Throne and Liberty has no permanent class selection. A character equips two weapons, and those weapons determine available active skills, passives, defensive actions, and expected group role. Current weapon choices include Sword and Shield, Greatsword, Dagger, Crossbow, Longbow, Staff, Wand and Tome, Spear, Orb, and the Gauntlets introduced with Nix.
Weapon flexibility does not make progression cost-free: skills, mastery, traits, equipment, and role-specific presets still require investment. Players should test combinations before committing scarce upgrade materials, especially when preparing separate PvE and PvP builds.
Dash, Glide, and Swim Morphs replace conventional ground, flying, and aquatic mounts. They transform the character into a creature while moving across land, descending through the air, or swimming. Morph collection also provides progression and customisation.
Traversal Morphs should not be confused with Guardians, which are timed combat transformations that grant powerful bonuses, or special encounter transformations used by particular objectives. Weather, terrain, grapple points, and day-night changes can alter routes and activity conditions throughout Solisium.
The Frozen Divide: Nix launched in June 2026 as the game's largest expansion to that point. It raised the level cap to 60, introduced the frozen Nix region and Gauntlets weapon, added two Epic Co-Op Dungeons, expanded story progression, and brought new equipment, field events, bosses, and region-specific traversal through the Auroral Path and Aethersuit.
Nix also includes solo Tumgir Hollow progression, four-player Remnants of Nix content, new Dimensional Trials, Guild Raids, and the two-phase Archboss Ramux encounter. FirstSpark and Amazon have continued adjusting Nix navigation, event requirements, progression costs, and rewards in response to player feedback.
Update 4.9.0 went live on August 26, 2026. It added Item Level 85 Snowsoul Weapons crafted from Ascended Talandre Archboss weapons, Party Champion enemies between Elite and Boss grades, new Nix achievements, safer crafting-material selection, Potential Ability transfer choices, Auction House price searches for eligible untradeable items, and additional Nix movement guidance.
The planned Colossus Vegamor update was moved from August to September while the teams prioritise the service handover and further balancing. Dates for unreleased content should therefore be treated as roadmap targets until corresponding patch notes are published.
Amazon announced that Western live operations will transfer to FirstSpark Games / NC in Q4 2026. The companies say character progression and account data are intended to remain safe and intact during the handover. Amazon remains the current Western operator as of this page's August 29 review, so players should follow official transition notices for any future account or launcher instructions.
Players can progress through the Adventure Codex, Contracts, open-world and instanced events, Co-Op Dungeons, Dimensional Trials, Tower of Greed, field bosses, Archbosses, and guild raids. Matchmade activities use role expectations based on the equipped weapon combination.
Guild membership is central to large-scale play. Conflict events, Guild Raids, Tax Delivery, inter-guild competition, and Castle Siege reward organised groups. Players who prefer PvE can avoid many optional conflict activities, but some of the game's defining systems and rewards are designed around guild coordination.
Players who enjoy Throne and Liberty's large-scale open-world PvP may also want to explore Black Desert for action combat with node wars and siege content, or Albion Online for full-loot PvP with a player-driven economy.
