Game of Thrones: Conquest

Game of Thrones: Conquest is a free-to-play mobile MMORTS by Turbine and Warner Bros. Games where players build a Great House, raise armies, hatch a personal dragon, and siege iconic Westeros locations.

Overview

Game of Thrones: Conquest is a free-to-play mobile MMORTS developed by Turbine and published by Warner Bros. Games under an official HBO license. Released on October 19, 2017 for iOS and Android, it places thousands of players on a shared Westeros map competing for territorial control, political dominance, and the most iconic Seats of Power in the franchise.

Players build and manage their own Great House, raise armies, hatch a personal dragon, and forge allegiances to pursue the endgame objectives: Winterfell, King's Landing, Dragonstone, and Castle Black.

Core Gameplay

The game is built around a mobile city-building loop. Your Keep is the central structure whose level gates every other system — troop tiers, research, dragon training, and building capacity all expand as your Keep levels up.

Four resources drive the economy: Food, Wood, Stone, and Iron. Research is handled through the Maester's Tower, unlocking at Keep Level 4. Five research disciplines — Military, Advanced Military, City Defence, Logistics, and Economy — form a long-term progression tree that rewards planning over raw spending.

The Westeros Map

All players share a persistent world map themed around the regions of Westeros. Seats of Power are fortified locations tied to the show's most recognisable landmarks — controlling them grants personal and allegiance-wide stat buffs that affect all coordinated marches.

Kingdom merges periodically bring multiple server populations together onto a single map, intensifying competition for territory. A large merge wave was announced for mid-2026 to consolidate older kingdoms.

Dragon System

Every player builds a Dragon Pit and hatches their own uniquely named dragon through a dedicated talent research tree. Dragons accompany troop marches into battle and can be deployed in two PvE expedition modes: The Great Ranging and Titans of the North. Keeping your dragon's development on pace with your Keep level is one of the most commonly overlooked priorities for new players.

Allegiances and the Bannerman System

Players join Allegiances organised around a four-tier Bannerman hierarchy. Each player sponsors up to five direct bannermen, with a single High Lord at the apex. Coordinating a siege on a major Seat of Power requires players across the hierarchy to march simultaneously within a tight window.

A 2026 update added Bannerman slot locking, reducing the risk of infiltration during major offensive operations.

Sworn Swords and Heroes

Over 100 heroes drawn from both Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon are available as Sworn Swords, each providing specific stat bonuses to marches or city defence. The March 2026 Tourney at Ashford Meadow event added Ser Duncan the Tall and Egg the Errant Squire from the Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas — expanding the licensed roster beyond the main TV series.

Combat

Troops are divided into four categories: Infantry, Ranged, Cavalry, and Siege Engines. A unit triangle governs PvP outcomes: Infantry beats Cavalry, Cavalry beats Ranged, Ranged beats Infantry. Siege Engines deal bonus damage against fortified positions and are essential for Seat of Power assaults.

Combat reports show troop losses in detail, letting commanders review the unit composition that would have produced a better outcome — a useful feedback loop for improving march strategy.

Monetisation

The game is free to download. Monetisation is aggressive by mobile standards: speed-up bundles, premium resource packs, and a tiered battle pass priced at approximately €32 and €47 per month. Free-to-play progression is fully viable in the early and mid game, but sustained top-tier competition without spending is difficult.

Players looking for mobile MMOs with a more generous free-to-play structure might consider Ragnarok Origin for a traditional MMORPG experience on mobile, or Black Desert Mobile for action combat with an open world.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Game of Thrones: Conquest still active in 2026?

Yes. Turbine continues to release monthly content updates. 2026 additions include the Tourney at Ashford Meadow event introducing Tales of Dunk and Egg heroes, allegiance management improvements, Arena preparation cycles, and Kingdom merge waves for older servers.

Is the game playable without spending money?

Yes in the early and mid game. Free-to-play players can participate in allegiance warfare and hold Seats of Power with strong coordination. Sustained top-tier competitive play without any spending becomes increasingly difficult at high Keep levels.

What are Seats of Power?

Seats of Power are fortified landmarks on the Westeros map — Winterfell, King's Landing, Dragonstone, and Castle Black are the most contested. Controlling one grants alliance-wide stat bonuses and is the primary objective of organised large-scale PvP.

What is the Bannerman system?

The Bannerman system is a four-tier feudal hierarchy within each Allegiance. Each player can sponsor up to five bannermen beneath them, with a single High Lord at the top. The hierarchy enables coordinated large-scale sieges where players across all tiers march simultaneously.

Does the game include House of the Dragon characters?

Yes. Heroes from House of the Dragon, including Rhaenyra Targaryen and her dragon Syrax, are available as Sworn Swords. Characters from the Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas — Ser Duncan the Tall and Egg — were added in the March 2026 Tourney at Ashford Meadow event.
