Ragnarok Origin is Gravity's free-to-play 3D MMORPG adaptation of Ragnarok Online. It keeps familiar Novice-to-job advancement, stat allocation, monster cards, pets, guilds, PvE instances, and competitive modes while adding mobile-friendly questing, optional automatic combat, and a PC client.
Service status depends on region. The older North American service that launched in November 2021 closed on March 24, 2026, but that notice explicitly did not apply to the separately operated global/LNA service. Ragnarok Origin Global remains active in August 2026 and continues to publish patches and events through its official website.
The current global version includes the Misty Amatsu expansion released in May 2026. It opened Amatsu and the Underground Shrine, added the Ninja job with Shinkiro and Shiranui third-job paths, introduced new monsters and cards, and raised the Base Level cap to 150.
The August 13 patch delivered broad job-balance changes and a database merge, followed by a new Dimension Drill season and rotating August events. Because servers and event calendars differ by territory, players should use the official site for the version attached to their account instead of assuming every regional build has identical content.
Characters begin as Novices before choosing a job path. Classic branches include Swordsman, Mage, Archer, Thief, Acolyte, and Merchant lines, while later updates add further jobs and advanced forms. Skills, assigned stats, equipment, cards, feathers, sigils, pets, and other progression systems all contribute to a build.
Automatic pathfinding and combat make routine quests and grinding accessible on mobile, but players still need manual positioning, targeting, and skill timing in demanding bosses and PvP. Monster cards can be inserted into compatible equipment for specific bonuses, making card choice a central part of character optimisation.
Daily commissions, MVP and MINI monster hunts, party instances, Extreme Challenge stages, guild activities, and seasonal events form the repeatable PvE loop. Guild play opens additional activities and competitive formats built around coordinated teams.
Dimension Drill provides ranked team competition, while the Valhalla Arena offers configured high-level characters for a more controlled 5v5 format during scheduled seasons. Rules, entry levels, and reward periods change between updates, so old event guides can become outdated quickly.
Ragnarok Origin Classic is a separate 2026 release operated by Gravity Game Vision in supported Asian territories. It uses a more limited monthly-pass-focused monetisation design and its own servers, characters, schedules, and Tyr Cup competition. It should not be treated as a patch or automatic migration destination for every Ragnarok Origin Global account.
North American players should also note that closure of the legacy NA service did not move old account progress into Global or Classic. Availability and account transfer options must be checked with the operator of the relevant region.
Ragnarok Origin Global is available on Android and iOS and provides an official Windows PC launcher. It is free to download with optional purchases, passes, and gacha-style reward systems. Store listings and payment options vary by country.

The legacy North American service shut down on March 24, 2026. The official notice said the closure applied only to that NA service. Ragnarok Origin Global/LNA remains active and received new content in 2026.
Misty Amatsu launched in May 2026 with the Amatsu region, Ninja job, Shinkiro and Shiranui paths, new monsters and cards, and a Base Level cap increase to 150.
