Characters are obtained through the Warp gacha system using Star Rail Passes. The soft pity activates at 74 pulls and guarantees a 5-star by pull 90. A separate hard pity system ensures the featured character on a limited banner every other guaranteed 5-star. Free players can fully experience the story and most content with only free characters, but the gacha banner characters are typically more powerful.
