Welcome to MapleStory, the original side-scrolling MMORPG where epic adventure, action and good friends await you. With hundreds of hours...
MapleStory is a free-to-play 2D side-scrolling MMORPG developed by Wizet and published by Nexon. Originally launched in 2003, it has remained one of the most popular online games in Asia and maintains a dedicated global playerbase. Its signature chibi art style, platforming combat, and deep class system have kept players engaged for over two decades.
MapleStory is known for its enormous roster of classes (over 50 playable characters), its party quest system, and a progression grind that scales from casual levelling to hardcore bossing at endgame.
The game features over 50 unique classes grouped into Explorers, Cygnus Knights, Heroes, Resistance, Nova, Flora, Anima, and more. Each class has completely distinct skills and playstyles. The 6th Job advancement system adds powerful new abilities for endgame characters, with the Sol Hecate common core and Astra subweapon system introduced in the Crown update.
In March 2026, the Sengoku classes Kanna and Hayato received major revamps. Kanna's fan weapon became one-handed with a new talisman secondary, and both classes gained new ascent skills. A Wild Hunter revamp added jaguar-mounted crossbow combat, and a One Punch Man collaboration event brought the Saitama character into the game.
Endgame revolves around weekly boss fights that scale from accessible (Zakum, Horntail) to the most challenging encounters in any MMO (Black Mage, Seren, Kalos). The Nightmare Paradise dungeon and World Archive system added in 2026 provide additional endgame progression paths. The Crown update introduced the level 295 area Geardrak and the Jupiter boss encounter.
MapleStory Classic World was announced in 2025 and is scheduled to launch in 2026, recreating the early-2000s experience with the five original Explorer classes for players seeking a nostalgic return.
