World of Warcraft: Legion

World of Warcraft: Legion ushers in an era of unprecedented conflict for the Alliance and the Horde as the Burning Legion’s crusade again...

Overview

World of Warcraft: Legion is the sixth expansion, released in August 2016. It sent players to the Broken Isles to combat the largest demonic invasion Azeroth has ever faced. Legion is consistently ranked among the best expansions in the game's history thanks to its Artifact weapon system, Class Order Halls, and the introduction of Mythic+ dungeons.

The expansion raised the level cap to 110, introduced the Demon Hunter hero class, and pioneered the level-scaling zone technology that Blizzard has used in every expansion since.

Artifact Weapons and Class Fantasy

Every specialisation received a unique Artifact weapon with its own lore, questline, and upgrade tree. Retribution Paladins wielded Ashbringer, Frost Death Knights carried the Blades of the Fallen Prince, and each weapon grew in power as players invested Artifact Power earned from all content. This system gave every spec a distinct identity and a personal progression arc.

Class Order Halls replaced the isolated Garrisons of Warlords of Draenor with shared class-specific hubs. Warriors gathered in the Halls of Valor, Mages convened in the Hall of the Guardian, and each hall came with its own campaign, champions, and mission table.

Mythic+ and Endgame

Legion introduced the Mythic+ dungeon system, which has become a permanent pillar of WoW's endgame. Keystones scale dungeon difficulty infinitely, adding affixes that change how encounters play. This system gave five-player content the same progression depth as raiding and remains one of the most popular features in the game.

The Suramar questline, a massive max-level story campaign, is widely considered one of the best quest chains in WoW history. It gradually unlocked the ancient city of Suramar and told a story of rebellion and liberation.
