Eclipse: The Awakening is a free-to-play dark fantasy MMORPG developed by NPIXEL in Unreal Engine 5 and published by Smilegate. It launched in South Korea on September 10, 2026 at 12:00 KST on Windows PC, Android, and iOS, with cross-platform play between PC and mobile.
Smilegate pitches it as an “MMOLite”: a traditional MMORPG built to cut three pressures, which the team calls Time Lite, Pay Lite, and Stress Lite. In practice that means offline growth, purchase limits on growth items, and PvP you can avoid. The game is currently Korean-only, and no global release has been announced.
Fighter, Ranger, Sorceress, and Assassin each have two weapons, and the weapon sets the job. A Fighter attacks with a greatsword or tanks with sword and shield; a Sorceress deals damage with a staff or heals with an orb.
Skill fusion merges two skills into a new one with different damage, range, combos, or status effects. Combat traits unlock through nodes, so two players on the same class and weapon can still build differently.
The Sanctuary stockpiles experience, growth materials, and summon tickets over time, even while you are logged off. A configurable AI mode can also keep hunting for up to 24 hours after you log out.
Most of the field is a safe zone, so you can level without being attacked. PvP happens in dedicated areas such as the Hyriver Battlefield, a 10-versus-10 match that ends after 10 minutes.
Eclipse runs only in Korea for now. The PC client downloads from the official website, and the mobile version is on Google Play and the App Store. The game carries a 청소년이용불가 (adults only) rating in Korea.
Expect busy servers. All 24 launch servers closed to new characters on day one, and long login queues followed. Smilegate added a new world, Belzera, with three servers on September 16 and three more on September 19.
Character deletion also has a delay. From September 30, the wait before a character is deleted grows from one day to between one and three days, depending on how often you delete. Settle on a class before rerolling repeatedly for launch rewards.
Choose your weapon before your class. The weapon decides whether you tank, deal damage, heal, or control fights:
After that, the Powers system adds a third layer. You combine six types of Stigmata, dropped by monsters or sold by merchants, with three types of Relics crafted from dismantled gear. Both roll random options when identified, and legendary or better combinations unlock Power skills.
Stigmata can be traded before they are identified. That makes the Marketplace a practical way to fill a missing slot.
Collect from the Sanctuary whenever you log in. Its gold, growth materials, and free summon tickets build up with time, so short daily check-ins still move your character forward.
Set up the AI mode before you log off. It follows the behavior you configure for up to 24 hours. Smilegate has said active play still has tactical advantages, and the AI mode has had fixes for characters standing idle, so check its results when you return.
Eclipse Time is a boosted farming window that you switch on yourself instead of waiting for a fixed server event. Save it for a session when you can actually play.
Smilegate says it will never sell equipment or accessories for cash, and the equipment screen has no slot for cash accessories. Spending goes toward summons and appearance items instead.
Growth-related paid products have weekly or monthly purchase limits, meant to narrow the gap between spenders and free players. Smilegate also says regular play alone provides around 300 summon opportunities each month.
Be careful with third-party gold. By the September 23 developer livestream, the team had sanctioned more than 30,000 bot accounts and said penalties would keep increasing.
The service changed quickly in its first weeks. It led Apple’s App Store download chart on launch day, later reached No. 1 in App Store revenue, and topped Google Play revenue on September 15.
The same roadmap lists raids, AI mode support for regular dungeons, and mobile graphics optimization, without firm dates. Class changes were ruled out for now.
The PC version runs on Windows 10 and installs from the official website. Smilegate also offers a STOVE spec checker to test your PC before downloading.
A GTX 1060 meets the PC minimum, but both tiers list SSD storage, so install the game on an SSD rather than a hard drive.
